Caring for the Elderly at Home

Our private elderly care services are designed to ease the pressures for individuals who may be finding it difficult to stay on top of general housekeeping and personal care tasks. We offer home help for the elderly that ensures dignity and care at every turn, combined with empathy and compassion delivered by our dedicated staff.

Our private care for the elderly at home assists those who want to maintain an independent lifestyle but would also benefit from assistance with any necessary daily tasks along the way. As well as additional support for their general well-being.

Whilst we promote independence wherever possible, Mayfair Care Agency ensures privacy and dignity are respected at all times throughout our care. We ensure that each individual feels as confident as they do comfortable in the place they are most familiar with.

Finding the perfect care agency for the elderly care you need at home

Deciding on which care agency is best for you or your loved one is crucial. Mayfair is a local agency that truly cares and offers both professional and sympathetic support with our private elderly care services.

What Kind of Homecare Assistance is Offered?

Our private elderly care at home may include:

  • Personal Care
  • Meal Preparation
  • Light housekeeping
  • Assistance with laundry
  • Food shopping
  • Medication administration
  • Companionship

Our qualified carers may also provide more advanced services such as medication reminders, grooming assistance or dementia care. To learn more about what our homecare assistance includes, please contact us directly.

What is the Process?

The process of booking private elderly care at home starts by contacting us either online or over the phone. After, we’ll arrange a consultation with you and our care coordinator. During the consultation, the care coordinator will assess the needs of the individual and discuss the various home care services that we offer. After selecting the appropriate services, the care coordinator will then create a personalised care plan and schedule regular home visits.

Will I be asked to pay for care at home?

Like any service, yes, you would need to pay. The price, however, ultimately depends on the type of care you or your loved one requires. At Mayfair Care Agency, our home help for the elderly is less expensive than nursing home care and we have seen an increase in people choosing private carers to provide at-home care.

This can be a more affordable option as it allows you to have more control over the type of care your loved one receives as we offer tailored care packages to suit your requirements.

Am I able to plan my own in-home care?

Yes, you can plan your own private care for the elderly at home. At Mayfair, we offer you greater control over what we offer, to create a service that is personal and beneficial to you.

It's important, however, to assess you or your loved one's needs and identify what tasks you will be able to complete yourself and what tasks will require assistance from professionals. You can then create a care plan that outlines the specific services needed. From here, our carers can provide those services in a professional and compassionate manner.

I merely need a little assistance with gardening and other housework. Is this assistance available?

We can certainly offer assistance with general light housework (vacuuming, dusting, keeping floors and work surfaces clean, etc..) but at present do not directly offer a gardening service but can make recommendations to available and approved gardeners that we have utilised very successfully in the past.

What is the next step for me?

Once you’re happy with your decision and the level of care required, you can contact us to book a consultation where we can talk you through every necessary detail to provide the best private elderly care at home for you.

The Importance of Private Elderly Care

Home care for the elderly is important for endless reasons.

It can provide much-needed care and support for older adults to continue to live happy and healthy lifestyles while remaining in the comfort of their homes.

Our private elderly care services ensure that your loved one is checked consistently, receiving quality companionship and having regular check-ins to make sure their health and well-being are always at the forefront of our care. We aim to give elderly adults the ability to remain independent in their own homes while receiving the support they need to promote their wellbeing.

Companionship for the elderly

Studies have shown that loneliness in elderly people can cause a significantly increased risk of heart disease, depression, and anxiety. Our private elderly care services provide companionship and friendship to older adults, maintaining positive social interactions, cognitive function, and healthy brain activity.

We provide elderly adults with the assistance, compassion, and support they require to maintain a fulfilling routine that encourages social interaction.

Mobility assistance

Mobility issues can be a growing concern as you age, restricting independence and overall quality of life. Our carers are trained to help assist with mobility issues and ensuring the safety and comfort of the service user is always the priority.

Our carers can assist with any walking aids or in-home mobility aids, as well as assist with tasks that may otherwise be too challenging.

Help with personal hygiene

Our private elderly care team can assist with personal hygiene and other general hygiene tasks that elderly adults may struggle to stay on top of.

From body washing to oral hygiene, all our care practices are performed with respect and dignity at the forefront, so that you always feel comfortable with the level of support you receive.

Incontinence care

Adults struggling with incontinence can lack self-esteem and become isolated. Complications with continence can be socially disruptive, disconcerting and feel like a burden that would rather be avoided.

With incontinence care from one of our fully-trained carers, we can ensure that you will have the support you need to feel confident in maintaining your routine.

Having healthy, balanced, and varied meals maintain and improve cognitive function and ultimately, your wellbeing.

For this reason, meal preparation services are hugely beneficial to elderly service users and those who require support with a set diet or would simply benefit from the convenience of food preparation.

While catering to personal care needs, we are also dedicated to ensuring your loved one is engaged socially.
While we do all we can to make their routine easier, we feel it's equally important to develop our service users routines to encourage independence and promote their wellbeing.

Elderly Care FAQs

Our elderly care packages are bespoke to each customer. To get started, just get in touch with us to arrange a consultation.

You can either fill in our online contact form, email, or call 01386 41492.

All of care packages begin with a chat about your needs and how we can tailor the care plan to you and your loved one.

During this process, we will make an assessment of their requirements and determine how best we can help. As we build relationships with our customers, we conduct ongoing reviews of their needs.

In addition to having your loved one's needs catered for, we work tirelessly to develop our relationships with each customer.

By preserving their independence in the place they feel most familiar, we continuously build our understanding of every customer's condition, learn their preferences & interests, and do our utmost to help them feel confident in their routines.

We can provide care visits as little or often as required. Whether it be multiple visits throughout the day to prepare meals, or a semi-regular visit to check-in for a chat and a tidy-up.

As time goes on, we will review whether more  frequent visits are necessary as we learn more about your loved one. If memory is becoming more of an issue, or we feel there is an increasing safety risk when they are left alone, we will work with you to increase the level of support.

Private care is paid for directly by the customer, however we advise researching the support available from public funding or benefits.

If you're not sure whether there is support available from your local authorities or healthcare provider, get in touch for a chat so we can point you in the right direction.
